Drop-In Center
Sankalp directs a Drop-in Center (DICs) near the drug-using hotspot, Mumbai Central. The DIC provides holistic care to street-based individuals who use brown sugar, a crude form of heroin. Clients are offered basic medical care, Opioid substitution therapy (OST), treatment referrals, extensive one-on-one and group counseling, as well as advocacy and support throughout their rehabilitation.

Clients are offered basic medical care, Opioid substitution therapy (OST), treatment referrals, extensive one-on-one and group counseling, as well as advocacy and support throughout their rehabilitation.
The DIC also empowers and trains former drug-users to work as peer educators and outreach workers, who go out into drug using hotspots to spread messages of HIV/AIDS prevention, positive living, and health. There we also conduct our Needle and Syringe Exchange Programme whereby used, dirty needles and syringes are exchanged for clean ones, which has been shown to greatly reduce the transmission of HIV, Hepatitis C, and other blood-borne viruses. With a commitment to harm reduction, the Drop-in Center providse a support system that enables clients to manage their day to day struggles, and work towards recovery.
